Our Origin Story
Born on the Illinois River
The Kayak Posse started the way the best things do — a small group of Oklahoma women who loved the water and wanted more of it. What began as informal weekend floats on the Illinois River grew into something bigger than any of us expected.
We realized there weren’t many spaces specifically for women who kayak. Spaces where you could be a total beginner without judgment, or a seasoned paddler who just wants good company. So we built one.
Today, the Kayak Posse is Oklahoma’s go-to ladies kayaking community — organizing trips, clinics, camping retreats, and connections that last far beyond the river bank.

Everything we do on and off the water is guided by these principles. They’re not just words — they’re how we treat each other every single trip.
We show up for each other. On the water and off it. No woman paddles alone in the Posse.
We never cut corners on safety. Proper gear, trip leaders, buddy systems — always, without exception.

We push comfort zones — gently. New routes, new skills, new sunrises. We believe in the magic of saying yes.

Our leadership team is made up of passionate paddlers who volunteer their time to keep the Posse running smooth — just like a clean river current.
The original Posse member who started it all with a Sunday float and a big idea. Certified kayak instructor with 15+ years on Oklahoma waters.
The mastermind behind every perfectly planned paddle. From sunrise floats to multi-day camping trips — she makes the magic happen.
Former river guide and wilderness first responder. She keeps every Posse member safe so we can all focus on having fun on the water.
Our storyteller. She captures the moments and keeps our community connected between paddles through social media and our newsletter.

How We Got Here

Five friends, five kayaks, one perfect Oklahoma morning. What started as a casual trip became the seed of something much bigger.

We officially formed the Kayak Posse club, created our Facebook group, and went from 5 members to 30 in the first month.

We hosted our first multi-day paddling retreat at Beavers Bend State Park — 25 women, 3 days, endless memories.
Today the Kayak Posse is Oklahoma’s largest ladies kayaking community, with regular trips, clinics, and a sisterhood that spans the whole state.
